Joining the small experiment of climate storytelling with the power of a single “box.”

“Climate ‘Qiao’ Box” is our latest experiment in sustainable packaging, and it has already received enthusiastic feedback and sparked lively conversations. We’ve also been invited by many business partners to collaborate, and we look forward to exploring even more diverse ideas together to reach the next, better solution for sustainable packaging.

Less Waste

It Starts with Simple, Moderate Design

According to research by the Environmental Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of the National People’s Congress, China generates 150 million tons of packaging waste every year, with over 70% caused by excessive packaging. Further data show that packaging waste accounts for 30%–40% of urban household garbage. Although more and more packaging now uses “recyclable” materials, truly entering the recycling chain and undergoing proper treatment remains a significant challenge.

From the very beginning of the “Qiao” Box concept, we set a clear goal: create no extra burden for the recipient. During product development we held multiple rounds of discussions to extend its life cycle as much as possible—reducing discard rates and improving reusability so that, even at the end of its use, it can be properly recycled.

To achieve this, the “Qiao” Box:

✅ Uses a single material for easier sorting
✅ Employs reusable corrugated paper for easier recycling
Minimizes color printing
✅ Adopts a slot-and-tab structure to reduce the need for adhesives

The final design—lightweight and book-like, folding neatly like a brochure—embodies these principles in both form and function.

This simple, moderate design helps the “Qiao” Box avoid excessive decoration and unnecessary add-ons.

No “Packaging Assassins”
Hands-On to Unlock Climate Stories

Niche, refined, high-end…
More and more businesses are capitalizing on the mindset that “the better the packaging, the higher the status”. Decorations that were once merely meant to accentuate and beautify have begun to steal the spotlight, and competitive one-upmanship among brands has made overpackaging increasingly common.

How to ease the subtle anxiety brought on by overpackaging—and instead let users find joy and relaxation in the unwrapping—was a key consideration in designing the Climate “Qiao” Box. We wove storytelling into the packaging with both playfulness and a sense of ritual: discovering the chocolate means peeling back layers of interlaced cardboard panels, each with different cut-out shapes and narrative fragments. It feels like reading a slow, unfolding climate-and-chocolate storybook, where the reward goes far beyond a single piece of chocolate.

Don’t Toss It Yet—There’s More!

The Climate “Qiao” Box Has a Second Life

By now you might think the Climate “Qiao” Box is just a fun, recyclable green package.
But it’s far more than that:

Phone stand
Storage box
Children’s DIY building blocks
Mini science book
… and more!

One box, many uses—making the most of every material. While you enjoy the chocolate’s sweetness, we hope each reuse helps cut down on single-use waste and opens up new possibilities for everyday products.
